“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” - Some Wiseguy
“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” - Some Other Wiseguy
So, how do we define this eternal vigilance? And what exactly constitutes doing nothing? Today, a friend shared a snapshot of a Beijing policy report from 2020, detailing the mandatory implementation of facial recognition for all passport holders at airports. The rationale, as always, is draped in the veil of safetyism. The report states: From a risk assessment perspective, the introduction of biometrics would prevent potential identity fraud.
Yet, such policy documents, whether emerging from China, Canada, or the USA, seldom prioritize citizen safety; they are cloaked maneuvers for governmental control. As formerly free citizens, we mustn't accept these proposals at face value for their ostensible objectives, but rather scrutinize the manifold abuses they portend. The lessons of the Surveillance State are stark: surveillance rarely serves individual interests, but rather the ambitions of those wielding its power.
However, this discourse isn't about reiterating what many already grasp regarding the unchecked expansion of the Security State; it's about our response. How often do we encounter contentious issues and react with seething indignation, frothing at the mouth, as though fury alone could enact change? Social media teems with co-opted social justice warriors pitted against freedom-minded outrage reactionaries, both confined to skirmishes in a digital battlefield. Typically, most confine their activism to impulsive social media outbursts, momentarily disrupting their otherwise mundane routines. In simpler terms, we tweet our outrage and then return to the comfort of our Matrix-confined lives.
What truly constitutes eternal vigilance? Is it merely acknowledging the erosion of liberty? Or does it demand persistent and resolute resistance? And can we ever sustain such resolve in times that are absent of profound adversity? It seems only real pain can spur revolutions.
Indeed, one certainty prevails: those in power ascend through unwavering resolve and relentless determination. The architects of control aren't idle or obtuse; rather they embody intelligence, strategy, diligence, and unyielding perseverance. In the absence of determined opposition, they will inevitably triumph in the battle for dominion over minds and whole societies.
In practical terms, what does this mean? From this author's perspective, it means refusing to comply with their rules. Don't sign their forms. Reject their terms. Stir up dissent. Resist. If you wish to travel, exercise that liberty, but refuse to partake in any program, like Nexus, that compromises fundamental constitutional protections. Refuse to walk through their billion-dollar Haliburton x-ray devices; opt instead for the pat-down. You’re allowed to do this, so walk the talk. Assert your stance against the blatant overreach of the Surveillance State. Be the obstruction in the wheel of tyranny. To do otherwise is to allow tyranny to thrive. This principle extends to public health measures lacking foundation in objective science—science free from corporate influence—and devoid of respect for natural and constitutional law. Those aiming to effectively resist tyranny must embody unwavering resolve.
This is a battle we, as liberated individuals, cannot afford to lose. In the humble view of this author, it's time to transcend the minutiae that merely signify symptoms of a far more profound issue. We must re-embrace the enduring virtues of truth, justice, and compassion. Yet, discerning these values solely through our limited, worldly frameworks would render them little more than arbitrary. There exists a higher wisdom, beyond our human constructs, that delineates societal priorities and genuine justice. We must heed the counsel of our Creator, who foresaw these challenges long before humanity's inception. Without tapping into this timeless and universal wisdom, humanity remains bereft of authentic truth, justice, and love. We persist as children, squabbling in the playground, our vision confined by the limits of our own human experience.
Above all, let’s keep reading, learning, and growing. We are fortunate to have access to a wealth of wisdom in various forms. May we direct our attention towards the erudite, the scholars, and the grace bestowed upon us by our divine Creator, rather than yielding to self-proclaimed social media “leaders” motivated primarily by self-interest. Our ongoing education is essential to shield us from the machinations of those who seek to exert control over us.
Now back to cat videos.
That Johnny Dollar I tell ya. D'oh!
'Eternal vigilance' means, to me, nourishing the tree of liberty. It means seeing tyrannical shit and stopping it before it sets in and calcifies and begins to erode liberty. It takes foresight and fortitude to practice eternal vigilance. It ties into 'a Republic if you can keep it'. You can keep the Republican if you don't take your freedom for granted. You can only conduct eternal vigilance if you participate and do your civic duty. Unfortunately, this means you will always face those who do not understand eternal vigilance in practice and real time. Think people who call truckers and people who opposed mandates 'freedumbers'. Thy enemy shows its face and only vigilance against it will quell or sideline it.
What you described is more Thoreau's 'On Civil Disobedience'. To Thoreau, government is asshole and it's the duty of a free citizen to remind that it is asshole and conduct civil disobedience in the face of unjust and tyrannical laws.
Basically, he said what we all said fighting the Pandemecists: DON'T PLAY.
These cat videos are awesome.
