Dear Sirs and Madam,
We are writing to you today in defense of our honourable friend, Randy Hillier, who is being unjustly pursued by the Crown for offenses he very clearly did not commit. We write to you as direct character witnesses, having shared several occasions together with Mr. Hillier over the past three and a half years.
Mr. Hillier is a man of principle and tremendous integrity. Throughout the COVID crisis in Canada, Mr. Hillier was among the first politicians to bravely speak up in the name of individual liberty, bodily autonomy, and freedom of conscience. Just like the undersigned, Mr. Hillier recognized these virtues as being the cornerstone of Canadian democracy and the foundations that set us apart from lesser dictatorships abroad. By now, it should be obvious to anyone reading these words that the measures our governments put into place during and after the COVID crisis demonstrably caused more harm than good. Measures that were rooted in fear and an egregiously extreme interpretation of the precautionary principle wreaked havoc on Canadian lives, the impacts of which are still being felt today. Mr. Hillier stood tall in the defense of timeless Canadian values, many of which were savagely trampled upon over the course of three years.
In light of this tragic reality, Mr. Hillier was steadfast and committed to his advocacy for a swift return to normalcy. For Mr. Hillier and the undersigned, democratic public protest had become necessary in order to defend the sanctity of Canadian freedom, as enshrined in our highest Charters and laws. With this said, it must be noted that at no point in time had Mr. Hillier ever called for anything more than peaceful, democratic protest. Mr. Hillier has never called for or engaged in violence at any of the protests he attended. On the contrary, Mr. Hillier repeatedly called for peace at a time when so many Canadians could have been understandably pushed toward violence. This was a time that tested the patience and fortitude of millions of Canadians forced out of work, excluded from social and religious spaces, and pushed out of society altogether and into the fringes to appease a relatively small minority of unchecked, technocratic tyrants and their single-minded aims.
In the beginning, serving his constituents of Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, Mr. Hillier fulfilled his moral, ethical, and professional obligations by speaking out routinely in the Ontario Legislature. It was Mr. Hillier’s highest duty to voice the concerns of his constituents who had been forced to bear the full burden of lockdown measures for far too long. Since that time, Mr. Hillier engaged in speaking events, many of which the undersigned recorded and in which we sometimes also participated. Mr. Hillier has always shown us the better nature of humanity in his patience and unwavering resolve.
Having examined the Crown’s evidence related to the current set of unfounded charges laid against him, it is beyond obvious that Mr. Hillier never engaged in any conceivable act of violence. Indeed, the more tragic part of this saga is not that Mr. Hillier exercised his democratic right to peaceful protest, but that certain members of government and law enforcement would go to such lengths to politically persecute their ideological adversaries. These types of actions are to be expected in less developed nations where political and ideological persecution in defense of an arbitrary or, more commonly, self-interested status quo is commonplace. But here in Canada, such threats to democracy through the fabrication of evidence and the undue persecution of political dissidents should set off alarm bells in the hearts and minds of true Canadian patriots.
We, the undersigned, ask that you return to a place of moral conscience and objective reason. In doing so, you will have no other choice but to see this dreadful situation for what it really is. In examining your conscience, we believe you will see that the only righteous course of action is to drop all charges against Mr. Hillier or, minimally, to do whatever the powers vested in you allow you to do to see these charges dropped.
Respectfully submitted,

From Randy Hillier:
The Great Parliament Hill Assault
Who else is fabricating, and telling falsehoods?
In March 2022 Ottawa Police Detective A. Geller began an investigation and laid 3 charges of assault & obstruction of a peace officer(s) against me based on the enclosed video. It is worthwhile to note that this investigation began a full 5 weeks after the incident on January 29th 2020, but only 1 day after I announced I was not going to seek re-election to the Ontario Legislature.
At my Bail court hearing On March 28th the Ottawa Assistant Crown Attorney Tim Wightman fabricated a story and misrepresented the facts when he stated to the Judge "that Randy Hillier picked up a temporary steel barricade, and threw it at a peace officer," on the steps of Parliament Hill. Please watch this short video and see for yourself the facts. Do you see any assault, do you see me throwing the barricade at the peace officer?
However, this video is central to the Crown and the only evidence of the alleged obstruction and assault. Based on this evidence the Crown wants me to be incarcerated for more than 3 years.
